Your antidote to the #circuitbreaker blues

April 8, 2020

#Impact COVID-19Giving

As most of us hunker down at home, we’re reminded that we’re not all affected by COVID-19 in the same way.  While some of us might bemoan the boredom of being homebound for the month, there are families and vulnerable kids in our midst and around the world whose basic needs might be threatened as donors tighten their purse strings and relief operations are increasingly restricted.

At a time like this, it’s a privilege to be able to give. And we think it just might be the most powerful antidote to the #circuitbreaker blues.

If you’re in a position to make a donation, here are some non-profit organisations doing incredible work that you could consider giving to:

1. Beyond Social Services is providing food, financial assistance and connectivity to families hard hit by the pandemic, whose needs are not or are insufficiently covered by government schemes.

2. AMKFSC serves low-income families in Singapore, and they’re currently seeking cash and in-kind donations of food rations, NTUC vouchers, and diapers for families struggling to meet their needs at this time.

3. Our social impact partner in the Philippines, AHA Learning Center, transforms communities through after-school learning. As Manila locks down, they’re supplying food to over 300 impoverished students and their families.

4. More than 100,000 refugees in camps worldwide are at risk of running out of food because of COVID-19 – international NGO Preemptive Love Coalition is doing the urgent work of feeding refugee families in Iraq and other conflict areas who are in quarantine and cannot work or find food.

Do you know of any other organisations working with kids who could use help – monetary or in kind donations – at this time? We are keen to use our platform for good – please write to us to be included on this list and let us know how the public can support you.
