All you need to know

Every child has the ability to make a difference.

And at Saturday Kids, we believe that learning how to apply tech skills for impact can guide kids towards finding their place and purpose in this world that they’ll be inheriting. As an interdisciplinary course at the intersection of multiple possible pathways of growth such as tech entrepreneurship, STEM, social innovation and robotics, your child will be equipped with the tools and exploratory experience needed to take control of their learning journey ahead.

Learn human-centered design to build mobile apps with Thunkable, an intuitive, visual programming platform that allows everyone – even kids – to build fully functional apps for both iOS and Android phones/tablets. Deploy the app on their own phones & empower them with the potential to impact the world!

In the process, kids pick up the ABCs and basic principles of user design, sketch out apps with wireframes and design the app interface. Then, they’ll learn fundamental programming concepts and apply them to control the behaviour and logic of their app!

Over a number of terms, students will also understand what it takes to be an effective tech entrepreneur, and we’ll venture into projects that bring out that spirit of enterprise. Along the way, we’ll explore a wide variety of digital skills – social media advertising, content creation, graphic design, information literacy and more!

All that projects that they create over the terms will be consolidated into a portfolio that they can share with others! But what’s most valuable is the experience that they’ll take away from this course – learning more about themselves, their strengths, articulating their ideas, and how their ideas can shape our world for the better.

Oh! The stuff you'll learn

Pedagogy

No lectures. No memorisation. No ONE right answer. Like real life, we're all about trying things out yourself, failing, figuring what went wrong & trying again. These are the skills & mindset that will last a lifetime and how we learn in real life. Let's get kids to learn how to learn. Because the kids who learn to learn become curious, inventive, resourceful human beings who solve real world problems to make a meaningful impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Who is this course designed for?

This programme is great for all young learners ages 11-12. No prior experience required, but if you do, that’s cool too!

  2. What’s the format of this course?

Tech Changemakers: Impact & Purpose is a weekly programme specially designed for 11-12 year olds to apply tech for social good! Each term of classes consists of 8 weekly lessons of 2 hours each, and students build up a portfolio of projects along the way.

  3. Can my child join in the next term of classes if s/he missed out on the previous term?

Absolutely! Whether for beginners or for those with slightly more experience, our term classes are designed to welcome new students at the start of every term 🙂 Do note however that we’re unable to include new students to an ongoing term as the lessons are progressive, so do sign up early to book your slot!
